What is Psychotherapy?

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy begins with the notions that our unconscious mind (the parts of our mind we are typically unaware of) plays an important part in our day to day lives and that our early experiences and relationships shape who we are. It entails meeting for 50 minute sessions typically once or twice weekly. Psychotherapy offers a unique opportunity to explore the self and process your past experiences whilst helping to understand how these experiences are affecting you in the present.

A growing evidence base has demonstrated that psychotherapy can be effective in treating a range of conditions including depression whilst increasing quality of life and crucially, have proven benefits long after treatment has ended. If you are finding repeated difficulties manifesting in your relationships or are struggling with depression, anxiety, instability, addictions or a lack of meaning and purpose then psychotherapy could be of real value. It is an opportunity to have conversations and experiences that we can’t have anywhere else.

If you think psychotherapy could be of help to you feel free to contact me by email or the contact form to arrange an initial consultation. During the consultation we can think about what has brought you to therapy before deciding if I am the right therapist for you.
